-Realizaron el séptimo seminario nacional de berries

“El Valle de Zamora recobra gran relevancia al continuar como el más importante productor de berries, dado que siendo a nivel nacional el más destacado según datos de la Secretaría de Agricultura (SAGARPA), donde especifica que actualmente México cuenta con 25 mil hectáreas de superficie sembrada de cuatro cultivos de berries: zarzamora, fresa, arándano y frambuesa”, señaló Héctor Sánchez, gerente comercial para la unidad de negocios de Michoacán de la empresa Syngenta Agro, participante del Séptimo Seminario Nacional de Berries desarrollado en el Hotel Jericó.
El total de hectáreas de superficie sembrada arriba descritas tiene un valor de producción de 550 millones de dólares y genera entre 80 mil y 100 mil empleos al año, esto de acuerdo a la Asociación Nacional Exportadora de Berries (Aneberriers), logrando ubicar a México como el tercer país exportador de estas frutillas en el mundo y el quinto productor.
Dijo que el seminario nacional de berries tuvo la participación de 6 ponentes de talla nacional, provenientes de México, Guadalajara y Michoacán, “doctores de la Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo abordaron temas de plagas, enfermedades de la frutilla, empresarios de Aneberries hablaron de tendencias de mercado y comercialización de la frutilla y especialistas presentaron respuestas de solución para la mejora en la producción de las frutillas y erradicar las plagas”.
“El objetivo de este evento es darle oportunidad a los productores y a los asesores técnicos a tener acceso a información de mercado de comercialización y de nuevas soluciones para el manejo de plagas y enfermedades en berries”, señaló.
Admitió que actualmente las cuatro frutillas tienen gran oportunidad de crecimiento, no obstante dijo “la fresa sigue siendo el producto líder debido a su creciente demanda, tienen relevancia en todos los sectores socioeconómicos, ya que proporcionan empleos permanentes y temporales en toda la cadena agroalimentaria, beneficiando a productores, comercializadores, industrializadores y consumidores”.
Comentó que se ha mejorado notablemente la exportación de estas frutillas debido a que las berries están asociadas con buena salud y buena alimentación, además de que dijo “ la gente en Estados Unidos, Europa y Japón está buscando el producto por su buena calidad, esta gran demanda representa una oportunidad para que México produzca y exporte berries, por su elevada rentabilidad, el rápido retorno de inversión, el uso intensivo de mano de obra, propician que estos frutos sean un mercado atractivo”.
Indicó que a hoy en día las principales plagas que llegan afectar a estas frutillas son los ácaros y botrytis “estas se están controlando afortunadamente, pero si representan una limitante, si el productor se descuida puede tener graves daños en la cantidad, calidad y evolución de su producción. Por ello exhortamos a los agricultores a utilizar productos de calidad que cumplan con las exigencias de inocuidad para que puedan exportar a EU, Europa y Japón”.
Señaló que afortunadamente el productor está consciente de utilizar productos inocuos, además de que están en coordinación con sus proveedores para que lleven el seguimiento en campo.
Finalmente dijo que otras zonas importantes en la producción de berries son: algunas partes de Jalisco, Ziracuaretiro y Los Reyes.
