La presencia de la mosca blanca en los cultivos de hortaliza de la región de Cojumatlán podría significar la pérdida total de las siembras de calabacita, ejote y repollo señaló el comisariado ejidal Armando Anaya Cacho quien señaló que pese a las recurrentes pérdidas por esta plaga hasta el momento ni la autoridad estatal ni la municipal ha dado paso alguno por encontrar la solución.
Informó también que esta plaga se asienta principalmente en la región colindante de Tizapán Jalisco y con el paso de los meses ha logrado cruzar hacia los cultivos de hortalizas de Michoacán lo que ha afectado desde hace varios ciclos la producción de hortaliza.
Refirió Anaya Cacho que pese a que se ha solicitado de manera reiterada el apoyo de las autoridades de sanidad vegetal, ni el estado ni el municipio se han acercado a los productores para encontrar remedio; ante esta situación el representante de los productores señaló que a más de que se prevé la pérdida casi total de la producción, existe el riesgo de que ante la imposibilidad de garantizar el desarrollo de nuevas siembras de hortaliza, los productores podrían optar por la siembra de granos lo que les haría perder mercados en las diferentes ciudades de la región con los que se tiene un comercio consolidado desde hace décadas.
De acuerdo a la Junta Local de Sanidad Vegetal, además de los controles químicos que se requieren, para abatir la incidencia de esta plaga que ataca y utiliza de hospedero los cultivos de hoja ancha, es necesario establecer ventanas sanitarias, esto es, suspender al menos un ciclo de siembra a fin de erradicar los hospederos en que se reproduce este insecto.
