Por vez primera en la entidad pusieron a funcionar un centro regional intermunicipal de control de incendios forestales. Se ubicará frente al Hospital Regional. Es el segundo en su tipo a nivel nacional, le antecedió el estado de Aguascalientes. Cuenta con 4 pantallas de monitoreo, servidores y 4 computadoras.
Con este sistema se permitirá el monitoreo de rastreo de puntos de calor, de rastreo de puntos de vehículos, alerta temprana en cuanto a condiciones atmosféricas, y estadística sobre la situación actual en cuanto a incendios forestales se refiere. Estará al frente de este mando único Oscar Hernández Fuentes, coordinador regional de la Comisión Nacional Forestal (CONAFOR).
Antes de que cortaran el listón de dicho espacio para que comenzara operaciones el mismo, previamente se llevo a cabo en la explanada del Templo del Espíritu Santo el arranque de la campaña regional de combate a incendios forestales que encabezó Osvaldo Fernández Orozco, gerente estatal de la CONAFOR; Rodolfo López Subgerente de producción y productividad, Javier González, coordinador estatal contra incendios forestales, entre otras personas.
Fernández Orozco dijo “este centro se instaló con la finalidad de que tengamos la misma información todos los que participamos en este combate desde las brigadas de CONAFOR, COFOM, Protección civil, ayuntamientos de esta región Lerma -Chapala que son 17 y SEDENA. Se trata de tener una mejor coordinación, atención y eficiencia”.
Agregó “es un factor fundamental la participación de estos actores puesto que este centro es un departamento de la CONAFOR, que siempre ha sido determinante para la protección de los bosques y las selvas”.
Indicó “para este centro no hay inversión estratosférica porque cada dependencia está aportando su propio equipo, trabajo y el coordinador Oscar Hernández de esta sede ha sido gestor con los propios ayuntamientos para que participen con pantallas, con la renta, con la finalidad de que este mando único sea el centro de operación, porque los bosques, las selvas y todo el ecosistema merecen una especial atención”.
Recordó que a partir del 1 de Enero iniciaron con el programa anual de la atención contra incendios forestales, “tenemos un centro regional, con sede en ciudad Guzmán (Jalisco) y son 6 centros estatales a nivel nacional que dependemos directamente de las oficinas centrales en Guadalajara en la CONAFOR”.
Comentó que durante el periodo de enero al 4 de marzo del 2014 se registraron 63 incendios, con una superficie afectada de 391.86 hectáreas. En el presente año, para el mismo periodo han ocurrido 59 incendios con una superficie quemada de 318.73 hectáreas.
“Esto nos indica un comportamiento casi similar en ambos años, con la diferencia de que actualmente existen demasiado material combustible en los bosques, debido a las abundantes lluvias del ciclo anterior, lo cual implica un peligro potencial de incremento de siniestros”, indicó.
En el combate a los 59 incendios forestales de este año se han empleado un mil 246 horas hombre distribuidas de la siguiente manera “el 66 por ciento corresponde a la CONAFOR, 15 por ciento al voluntariado y 8 por ciento a los municipios. Los municipios con mayor número de incendios son: Uruapan (12), Morelia (7), Ziracuaretiro (6), Hidalgo (5), Ario (5), Pátzcuaro (4), Tocumbo, Tinguindin y Zitacuaro (2 c/u) “, finalizó.
