El mal manejo y condiciones inadecuadas generan deterioro en las imágenes sacras de la región Ciénega de acuerdo a especialistas en arte sacro quienes señalan que, en ocasiones los actos de devoción pueden dañar las imágenes.
De acuerdo a Juan Carlos Lamas, uno de los problemas para la preservación del arte sacro en la mayor parte del país es el tema de que las personas que se encargan de la custodia de las imágenes no tienen la capacitación necesaria para la limpieza y el traslado de estas piezas.
“Incluso con tocar la imagen poemos dañarla porque nuestro cuerpo genera grasas y acidos que dañan la pintura y la madera, de hecho cuando se viste a las imágenes debe tenerse mucho cuidado ya que es en este proceso cuando se registran la mayoría de los daños y van desde que se quebre un brazo y hasta que con una de nuestras uñas dañemos las imágenes”.
Parte de esto es lo que se explica a las personas de Pajacuarán que colaboran con el escultor proveniente de la ciudad de Guadalajara: “Por los tiempos del trabajo que nos pidieron tuvimos que contratar personal y han aprendido de maravilla, con su ayuda terminamos en 13 días un trabajo que regularmente lleva 4 meses”.
Otro de los problemas para la preservación de estas esculturas en madera, señaló, es la ubicación de estas imagenes ya que regularmente se colocan frente a ventas en las que les da el sol la mayor parte del día lo que origina resequedad en la madera y durante la temporada de lluvias un exceso de humedad que absorbe la madera lo que con el paso del tiempo va generando deterioro.
“La madera es un ser vivo que siente y absorbe las condiciones climáticas y estos factores ambientales son los que afectan de alguna manera”.
