Jóvenes de entre 16 y 18 años de edad y compradores recientes de motocicletas son los que más se resisten a usar el casco de protección actualmente; representan el 30 por ciento del total de conductores que no lo usa, pese a los avances que en materia de Educación Vial con ese sector de la población.
“Hemos tenido avances importantes en materia de uso del casco de protección, pero no son suficientes porque la intención es que por lo menos el 90 por ciento de los conductores haga uso del objeto. El factor principal es la ignorancia de las normas de Tránsito por parte de las familias de quienes no usan el artefacto”, aseguró Jorge Zalpa Morales, regidor de vialidad.
Aseguró que mantendrán el contacto con las agencias de motocicletas para que en el momento de la compra de la unidad vehicular les otorguen el casco de protección en automático y que de esa manera se pueda hacer conciencia en quienes las adquieren por una necesidad de movilidad urbana.
Comentó que otro detalle que han detectado por parte de los motociclistas es que se estacionan en cajones de estacionamiento destinados para automovilistas cuando hay zonas habilitadas dentro del primer cuadro de la ciudad para que puedan acomodar sus unidades vehiculares.
“Nos generan un problema importante con los conductores porque incluso han dejado sus vehículos en zonas habilitadas como Una Hora de Estacionamiento que son concurridas por los automovilistas y los obligan a tener que dejar de circular por el centro”, explicó.
Finalmente dijo que la fórmula para poder cumplir con el objetivo del uso del casco al 100 por ciento no son multas excesivas, sino el hecho de mantener campañas de concientización para hacer entender a la gente que usar el casco no es una obligación, sino un beneficio para su seguridad, debido a que minimiza los riesgos de padecer una lesión craneoencefálica importante.
