En el marco de la apertura de las negociaciones para el establecimiento de agricultura por contrato con intermediarios particulares, los productores aceptaron que si bien el precio pactado para granos como maíz amarillo es aceptable, sí se encuentra por debajo de las expectativas.
En promedio, de acuerdo a Jesús González Ayala, líder de la Unión Campesina Democrática de la Ciénega de Chapala, la oferta de los intermediarios para este cultivo fue del orden de los 3.66 por kilo, un peso casi por debajo de lo que los productores consideran como un precio de rentabilidad.
En previsión de que estas expectativas no pudieran cumplirse, González Ayala, urgió a las autoridades federales y estatales establecer una mesa de diálogo que permita gestionar los recursos necesarios para generar un fondo de garantía con el cual puedan otorgarse apoyos de ser necesario en caso de una caída en los precios.
Respecto a los otros granos que se producen en esta región como el sorgo y el trigo, dijo que los precios estarán sujetos a las negociaciones de cada uno de los sistemas productos a que corresponden.
Destacó que tentativamente el precio del sorgo para el establecimiento del compromiso de contrato de producción es de 2.80 por kilo en tanto que para el maíz blanco se estima en 3.30 pesos por kilo.
Señaló que ante estos precios existe el riesgo de que algunas extensiones queden sin cultivarse debido también a que durante la última temporada se han incrementado los costos de los insumos y la variación en el precio de los granos tiende a la baja.
