-Debido a un tratamiento inadecuado

El 40 por ciento de las personas que presentan fractura de cadera fallecen por un tratamiento inadecuado, señaló José Gabriel García Fernández, presidente del Colegio de Traumatología y Ortopedia del Valle de Zamora en el arranque del XXI Congreso Regional del Colegio de Traumatología y Ortopedia del Valle de Zamora AC celebrado en el Hotel Jericó.
Lamentó “las fracturas de cadera tienen una mortandad muy alta, por lo que se requiere una mayor integración de los profesionistas de la salud, porque estos pacientes ameritan atención multidisciplinaria de especialistas”.
Además, dijo, este tipo de pacientes “requieren necesariamente una cirugía, atención especial, evaluación preoperatoria y tratamiento adecuado post operatorio para evitar la mortalidad que llega hasta el 10 por ciento durante el primer mes, pero que en el primer año hay hasta un 40 por ciento de incidencia fatal”.
Agregó que este tipo de fractura se debe a diversos factores que tienen que ver con la edad, el desgaste físico y las enfermedades concomitantes, es decir este padecimiento se asocia con enfermedades como diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, presión arterial, cirrosis hepática y desnutrición, entre otras”.
Aseveró que este tipo de fracturas es más frecuente en las mujeres por su masa ósea, esto debido a la osteoporosis “se trata de una lesión que tiene que ver con la longevidad que vamos teniendo”.
En este sentido hizo el siguiente exhortó a las féminas “vayan a su revisión con su médico de confianza, puede ser ginecólogo, internista o traumatólogo, así como también asistir con el geriatra. Entre más especialistas se consulten será mejor la atención; de igual manera que no deben auto medicarse, porque hay pacientes que se convierten en una plurifarmacia, es decir, que para tratar algún padecimiento llegan a tomar de 3 a 4 pastillas por día y eso eleva su presión arterial”.
Dijo que el uso de tacones también favorece esta lesión “las personas que padecen las enfermedades concomitantes ya no deben usar tacones, porque al sufrir una caída el 10 por ciento de estas llegan a presentar una fractura de cadera”.
Finalmente externó que este congreso regional del Colegio de Traumatología y Ortopedia del Valle de Zamora culminará mañana 14 de marzo. Participan en este 15 ponentes de talla nacional, con temas variados de la traumatología “el objetivo es garantizar una educación médica continua a los traumatólogos”.
Por su parte, Rosa Hilda Abascal Rodríguez, alcaldesa, señaló “estoy convencida de que la constante actualización y la suma de voluntades del trabajo en equipo en el ámbito de los profesionistas de la medicina en sus diversos gremios es un factor de gran valor para mejorar sustancialmente la atención de los pacientes. Por lo que este Congreso marcara un fuerte impulso en a la actividad profesional de la salud”, finalizó.
