La sequía que se avecina para el año entrante provocará la pérdida de 30 por ciento en la producción del cultivo de temporal; sólo cayeron 350 mililitros de agua durante la temporada de este año, a diferencia de los 800 mililitros que son la media nacional en el país, de manera que los productores deben tomar sus medidas precautorias.
“Fue un año seco en materia precipitaciones pluviales y las consecuencias se verán reflejadas hasta el año entrante; si una hectárea de maíz da un promedio de 6 toneladas, posiblemente ahora dé 4 toneladas del producto, por lo que se vislumbran pérdidas económicas”, informó Alejandro Ramírez Zaragoza, presidente del módulo de riego no. 1.
Indicó que en la región con influencia del módulo siembran un promedio de 550 hectáreas de maíz de temporal, que únicamente son puestas a trabajar durante los meses de verano; la mayor parte del año está en reposo para que puedan ser preparadas y generar producción agrícola.
“Es lógico que al haber una disminución en la producción, también habrá menor número de jornaleros en funciones y es una reacción en cadena que nos afecta a todas las personas porque a los consumidores puede afectarlos por el lado de que puede incrementar el precio de las tortillas”, dijo.
Mencionó que por esa razón es importante que los productores agrícolas contraten un seguro que permita amortiguar las pérdidas, ya que no está garantizado que puedan acceder a recursos de SAGARPA que son aplicados en caso de contingencias o desgracias ocurridas en el campo.
“Si bien no se recuperan los 70 u 80 mil pesos de inversión para esa producción, al menos el agricultor accede a un porcentaje de esos recursos por medio del seguro agrícola que no tiene dificultades para ser tramitado ante las empresas respectivas”, concluyó.
