Dada la importancia histórica, cultural, social, natural y económica que tiene la reserva ecológica del Curutarán, el ayuntamiento de Jacona que encabeza el alcalde Martín Arredondo Delgado y el Colegio de Michoacán que preside Martín Sánchez signaron un convenio de colaboración para el rescate de dicho patrimonio arqueológico, en el que se comprometen a conjuntar actividades de investigación, de difusión de la cultura y de extensión institucional, encaminadas a salvaguardar esta zona arqueológica considerada la más antigua de Mesoamérica como civilización.
Entre dichos proyectos destaca seguir impulsando hasta lograr cristalizar una Área Natural Protegida, que comprenderá 108 hectáreas para la creación de dicha reserva patrimonial, así como la creación de un museo: “este proyecto es muy anhelado por los habitantes de este municipio y manifiesta el compromiso del COLMICH con la región y el compromiso que han mostrado las administraciones pasadas y la presente por llegar a un compromiso más concreto por escrito con la firma de este convenio” apuntó Martin Sánchez presidente de la institución.
“Desde hace varias administraciones se estaba buscando dar impulso a este proyecto denominado Curutarán, reserva patrimonial, para lo cual se busca crear espacios para que la ciudadanía conozca esta riqueza”, añadió José Luis Murillo Mora, regidor de cultura, educación y turismo.
Sánchez indicó, que son ya 33 años los que tiene esta institución enfocada en la investigación, y gran parte de sus investigadores radican en Jacona “No habíamos firmado ningún convenio ni con Zamora ni con Jacona, y es importante dar este paso ya que esta región a nivel nacional es una de las más estudiadas en términos sociales, económicos y políticos”, por lo que se ven más comprometidos con esta región, señaló.
Dijo que a raíz de una serie de proyectos de investigación, el Colegio ha ido ampliando su impacto social, mismos que han estado encaminados al rescate de sitios arqueológicos
Recordó que en un principio se planteó la posibilidad de que se construyera el COLMICH en Jacona, donde se hizo una donación condicionada de un terreno anexo en el Cerro del Curutarán, en ese entonces Dr. Rafael Diego fungía como presidente de dicho colegio, quien determinó que se hicieran una serie de estudios técnicos dada el conocimiento de la riqueza cultural y natural de la zona, lo que dio pie a un nuevo proyecto que se trata del impulso de una área natural protegida, con la figura de la reserva patrimonial
Subrayó que para tal fin durante dos años se hicieron estudios arqueológicos, hidrológicos e históricos, que determinaron que no podían efectuar la construcción de la sede del ColMich en dicho sitio, puesto que no era factible “un crecimiento urbano que era necesario regular”, por lo que agradecieron a autoridades ejidales y propietarias donde se determinó que podía ser la Reserva Patrimonial del Curutarán.
Finalmente exclamó que dicho convenio tiene que ver con el aprovechamiento de las capacidades técnicas y humanas que tiene el Colegio, sistemas de información geográfica, en términos del conocimiento histórico y social de las problemáticas del municipio, etc., apoyo a las distintas comisiones que requiere formar dentro de la administración municipal y el vínculo con diversas instituciones como el INAH para lograr concretar diversos proyectos culturales para la región.
