El taekwondoín zamorano, Damián Alejandro Villa Valadez, Subcampeón Mundial de Tae Kwon Do en los 58 kilogramos, obtuvo Medalla de Plata en dos competencias internacionales de ranking mundial y olímpico muy fuertes, el Abierto de Suiza celebrado el 7 y 8 de marzo, y en el Abierto de México el 14 y 15 de marzo.
En ambas ocasiones logró llegar a la Final y obtener el Metal Argento, lo que le dio puntos para el ranking Mundial, importante para figurar en todas las competencias, pero enfocado para la meta final que son los Juegos Olímpicos, “siempre es bueno tener buen ranking y esperar terminar el presente año entre los primeros seis para obtener la clasificación directa a Juegos Olímpicos de Río 2016”, señaló.
Para lograr el objetivo es necesario seguir compitiendo en los muchos Campeonatos durante el 2015, algunos muy relevantes y otros de preparación para afinar detalles, “En todas las competencias hay que dar el cien para sacar el mayor número de puntos posibles hasta diciembre, cuando se realiza el corte del año para la clasificación directa”, agregó el zamorano.
Afortunadamente se encuentra en buen sitio clasificatorio y espera seguir así hasta final de año. Actualmente se encuentra en el Segundo Lugar Mundial con 106.55 puntos, por abajo del español Joel González Bonilla (114.35 puntos) y arriba de Chen Yang Wei, de Taipei, China, con 100.94 puntos, según lo reflejado por la World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) en marzo de 2014.
Esto habla del gran empeño y coraje que siempre ha demostrado el guerrero zamorano, quien se encuentra desde hace varios años en la Selección Nacional de Taekwondo participando para el estado de Puebla y que seguramente estaremos viendo su actuación dentro del tatami en los próximos Juegos Olímpicos.
Durante el Abierto de México supero las 6 rondas. Pasó la primera de Bye; la segunda venciendo a un compañero de la Selección Juvenil de Puebla; después a un seleccionado nacional de Ecuador; luego con un seleccionado de México; durante la Semifinal derrotó al seleccionado y medallista olímpico de Colombia; y en la Final cayó ante otro mexicano para lograr plata.
Cabe resaltar que la categoría de 58 kilos es la más peleada y complicada en todo el mundo; sin embargo, el objetivo principal es estar siempre en el podio, afirmó Damián Villa.
Sin embargo, desde hace mucho tiempo México ha tenido a importantes peleadores como son, el Campeón Olímpico, Guillermo Pérez; el Subcampeón Olímpico Oscar Salazar; Rafael Zúñiga; a su padre Octavio Villa Cendejas; a William de Jesús, Campeón Olímpico; y a él, a quien le ha tocado ungirse Subcampeón Mundial.
Damián Villa se reportó preparado para sortear sus próximos retos: campamento en Corea; después toca definir cuáles son las competencias primordiales a las que tengo que asistir, como el Campeonato del Mundo; Juegos Panamericanos; Abierto de Paraguay y Abierto de Bolivia, entre otros.
Finalmente mencionó que siempre que pueda va a venir a Zamora, al Doyang Central de Villa’s TDK, ubicado en Ejercito Nacional 147-B, Fraccionamiento Jardines de Catedral, en apoyo de la juventud y de los niños, que son el futuro del tae kwon do de nuestro país y de quienes espera sigan echándole ganas, para cuando él se retire, tomen su lugar.
