La presa de Urepetiro, ubicada en Tlazazalca, se encuentra cubierta de lirio en un 90 por ciento, situación que impide a pescadores realizar sus labores de captación, sin embargo, representa una belleza visual para el espectador.
Dio a conocer lo anterior Luis Javier Zavala López, jefe de operación del distrito de riego de Zamora de la Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA), mencionó que el lirio es muy difícil de arrancar, ya que únicamente se puede hacer con un procedimiento mecánico para poder triturar y ser utilizada en la agricultura, ya que sirve de fertilizante a los cultivos.
“Esta maleza acuática se traslada fácilmente de un lugar a otro, viene arrastrada desde la parte alta de la Cuenca del Río Duero. A la presa le perjudica en el sentido de que, debido a esta plaga, tiene mayor evaporación y, por tanto, sus niveles de agua disminuyen notablemente”, resaltó.
Mencionó que de esta presa dependen algunas decenas de pescadores quienes ahora tienen dificultades para atrapar mojarra y carpa, “no por falta de peces, más bien se les imposibilita la pesca”.
Indicó que ya los productores enviaron una solicitud a la (CONAGUA), toda vez que, por tratarse de una buena cantidad de lirio, ya ellos solos no pueden combatirlo. Por lo que requieren el apoyo de instituciones gubernamentales.
“Anteriormente los pescadores se organizaban periódicamente para sacar el lirio, por lo que se mantenía limpia la presa, pero como ya en los últimos dos años han hecho desidia, han dejado que se acumule y esta se ha extendido bastante”, describió.
Informó que desde hace 10 años la CONAGUA no apoya con la trituración de esta maleza, “no sabemos si es por falta de presupuesto o voluntad, la indicación tiene que venir desde el nivel federal. Pero hace una década se apoyaba con la maquinaria, el operador y el diésel”.
Pese a este problema de exceso de lirio, que origina la evaporación de la presa, dijo que si alcanzan a abastecer con el recurso hídrico los cultivos que dependen de la misma, los cuales se concentran en la zona de riego de Tangancícuaro, sobre todo de fresa, zarzamora, olleta y maíz,”.
“El lirio también afecta a los drenes y canales, ya que puede generar taponamientos y a su vez encharcamientos e inundaciones, pero para evitar este problema personal de los módulos de riego realizan la extracción de la maleza acuática dos veces por año en dicha infraestructura”, citó.
Dijo que actualmente la presa de Urepetiro tiene un almacenamiento de 4.9 millones de metros cúbicos, con un porcentaje del 58% del total de su capacidad que es de 8.24 millones de metros cúbicos, “en tanto, la presa San Juanico no tiene ese problema de exceso de lirio, normalmente hay muy poco, ahí se tiene un control biológico. En la presa Urepetiro incluso se han sembrado algunos insectos biológicos, pero desconocemos porque no se ha controlado el problema”.
En tanto, la presa San Juanico tiene un almacenamiento de 40.02, es decir, está al 66 por ciento, ya que su capacidad es de 60. 6 millones de metros cúbicos, finalizó.
